Many people in our community struggle with serious and debilitating dental problems. Solutions to these issues are costly and simply not accessible to everyone. Private dental insurance plans often limit options for restoring teeth. And Medicaid does not pay for any dental treatment whatsoever for adults in Alabama.
Restore Dental exists to help those struggling with serious dental problems without the resources to properly fix them. Our patients come from all walks of life and backgrounds.
Victims of Domestic Violence
According to the American Journal of Public Health, most injuries from family violence are found on the head and neck. Head, face, and neck injuries occur in more than half of child abuse cases. These injuries often involve chipped, cracked, or missing teeth, as well as seriously compromised bone structure. Many of our domestic abuse victim patients are young women who now have to contend with a life without a smile like their peers.
Veterans
85% of veterans that are eligible for medical care through the VA are not eligible for dental coverage. As a result, veterans pay 65% more in out-of-pocket dental costs and are 60% more likely to experience tooth decay compared to nonveterans, and 42% report having gum disease.
Accident and Trauma Victims
Traumatic dental issues can result from car accidents, household accidents, or sports injuries. These sudden and unplanned events can create financial stress and lasting issues.
Medically Compromised
Serious underlying health conditions (kidney disease, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.) often cause and lead to dental issues. For some critical medical procedures (like heart valve replacement), patients must have dental clearance to prevent infection and have their life threatening medical condition treated. Time is of the essence in these cases, but many patients struggle to get the help they need for full treatment.
Age-Related Issues
Issues like missing teeth or ill-fitting dentures that interfere with chewing and daily life can be major obstacles to individuals on a fixed income.
